What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Ranger position at City of Needles?
Overview
Reports/enforces city ordinances. Issues parking citations at the boat launch facility if needed. Solve day-to-day problems and provide visitors/patrons with general help and/or information that will facilitate a pleasant and safe environment for visitors/patrons. Ability to exhibit sufficient initiative to accomplish assigned tasks with moderate direction and advise assigned supervisor of any unusual or questionable conditions encountered in the area of responsibility. Conducts day-to-day operations keeping the boat launch facility clean and free from trash, safeguarding city property and equipment against loss or damage from theft, vandalism or other causes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES: (may include but not limited to):
Serve as a representative of the city, demonstrating a positive attitude and progressive actions through the display of professionalism, courtesy, and appropriate tact and discretion in all interactions with other employees and the public.
Patrols facility to maintain the property and ensure a safe and healthy environment for all those who patronize the city facility. Provide assistance in emergency situations, calls law enforcement or medical when needed.
Controls and directs traffic/parking as needed.
Post notices in the cabana areas of the park for all rentals for said business day.
Assist in the day-to-day cleanliness of the boat launch facility by performing light facility maintenance when and if necessary. Pick up trash and change trash liners if needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Work independently.
Perform manual labor tasks.
Ability to deal with the public in a positive manner.
Willingness to work flexible and possible additional hours including nights, weekends
and holidays.
Knowledge of departmental and city policies, instructions, laws and regulations, city ordinances for park uses, park safety practices
18 years or older, high school diploma or equivalent
Valid state driver’s license
Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
GENERAL:
This classification description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and employees will also perform other reasonable related duties as assigned by management and/or supervisors as required. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to: Reach, turn, bend or stoop, move from one location to another. Must be able to meet physical requirements of position including lifting and handling weights in excess of 40 pounds, standing, sitting, walking, bending, and climbing.
ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURES:
Those are commonly found in the park ranger and janitorial industry. This position shall expose the incumbent to those conditions normally encountered in such work including, but not limited to frequent exposure to odors, waste materials, toxic fumes, solvents, fuels, oils, greases, and exposure to heat, cold, high winds, and other inclement weather conditions.
Pay: $16.90 per hour
