The City of Napa's Public Works Department is seeking dependable and hardworking individuals to join the Street Maintenance or Facility Maintenance teams as Seasonal Extra Help Maintenance Laborer! You’ll be out in the field helping maintain streets or City facilities - essential systems that keep our community safe, accessible, and functioning every day!
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors, staying active, and seeing the tangible results of their efforts. You’ll gain valuable skills while directly supporting the day-to-day operations that keep Napa’s streets and facilities in top condition.

Candidates must be available for one or more of the following schedules:
Facility Maintenance Division:4:00 AM – 12:30 AM (weekdays)
Street Maintenance Division:
6:30 AM – 4:00 PM (weekdays with rotating days off)
4:00 AM – 12:30 PM (weekdays)
Assist in the maintenance tasks associated with the care of grounds, landscaping, trees, facilities, parking areas, streets, water, storm drains and electrical utilities.
Cleans and removes debris and litter from parks, landscapes, facilities, parking lots, streets, gutters, storm drains, catch basins, drainage ditches, sidewalks, and street construction sites by shoveling, raking, sweeping, and picking up debris.
May operate vehicles, and light equipment and power tools necessary to complete maintenance for the above assigned areas.
Assists in breaking up pavement, digging holes, cutting trenches, excavating and filling in holes in streets, pathways and other paved surfaces, chipping, using sledge hammer, shovel, pick, spade, rake, hoe, hand tools or jackhammer as directed.
Assist in loading, transporting, and unloading equipment, materials, debris, and other heavy objects related to maintenance.
Assists in setting up traffic control including signs and barricades, and acts as flag person to direct traffic around work sites.
Helps repair and maintain fences, playground equipment, gates, doors, roofs, walks and walkways, sidewalks and gutters using hammer, saws, paint brushes and appropriate hand tools, spade, pick, hoe, shovels, tamper and jack hammer as directed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of: Functions, characteristics and proper use and care of common hand tools and safe work practices.
Ability to: Be trained in the use of supplies, tools and equipment used in in the work areas as described above in a variety of weather conditions. Basic skills in following simple oral and written instructions; skills in performing manual work, lifting heavy objects up to 90 pounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other persons.
Special Requirements: Possession of a California Class C Driver's License.
