What are the responsibilities and job description for the Revenue Collections Assistant position at City of Mount Airy?
The City of Mount Airy Finance Department is accepting applications for a Revenue Collections Assistant to perform intermediate clerical work involving billing for and collection of funds for utility bills, deposits, taxes, licenses, fees and other revenues and customer service functions. Work involves heavy public contact functions and coordination with other departments within the City’s organizational structure, especially the Public Services Department. Considerable tact and courtesy are required in these public contact functions. An employee in this class is responsible for the activities which involve assistance with the generation and mailing of utility bills, handling customer inquiries relating to utility billings and general services, collecting funds for payment of bills and coordinating with the meter reading function. Work involves heavy public contact functions and coordination with other departments within the City’s organizational structure. Considerable tact and courtesy are required in these public contact functions. Work is performed under the supervision of the Revenue Collection Supervisor and is evaluated through conferences, by review of appropriate records and reports and the accuracy and thoroughness of assigned responsibilities. The starting pay for this position is $15.48/hr.
Qualifications Include:
High school diploma and some experience in a billing and/or collection operation required. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with interruption. Working knowledge of Microsoft applications preferred. Bilingual is a plus
