POSITION SUMMARY
Oversees and is responsible for light bookkeeping and inventory controls. Must follow and enforce all pool policies and rules at all times. Must be able to verbally communicate with both public and staff effectively. Knowledge of water chemistry and facilities management. Organize and manage special activities. Other duties as assigned.
Shifts: Varies; including mornings, holidays, weekends, and evenings and is on call when off duty.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Prepare all work schedules for employees making sure the manager or head lifeguard is on duty at all times the pool is open
· Assist the Administrative Services Director in hiring of lifeguards
· Ensure all new hires have the required certifications
· Ensure hourly employees work no more than 30 hours per week
· Maintain staff rotations and staff breaks
· Performs all lifeguard responsibilities including monitoring pool activities, applying first-aid, and performing water rescues as necessary.
· Assist in tracking pool attendance, balance cash drawer, and make daily deposits as directed
· Supervises all staff at the swimming pool facility, while ensuring that lifeguards perform in accordance with established safety regulations and policies
· Maintain positive public relations at the swimming pool
· Set a positive example for the rest of the staff to follow
· Document and reports all disciplinary problems and accidents to the Administrative Services Director
· Maintain a clean facility including but not limited to bathrooms, trash picked up in and outside of facility
· Ensure proper operating condition of all equipment
· Inform Administrative Services Director when supplies are needed and if equipment needs repaired
· Check the events calendar/folder daily for scheduled events
OTHER IMPORTANT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Other duties as deemed necessary or as required
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
· Works under the broad guidance of the Administrative Services Director.
· Reports as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education/Certificate- AmericanRed Cross Lifeguard, CPR for Professional Rescuer, First Aide certification.
Experience- Three seasons of Lifeguard experience; must possess strong organizational, communication, public relations, and leadership skills.
Minimum Age- 18 years old
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Must have reliable transportation; will be responsible for all operational aspects, including safety and pool maintenance; schedule staff; supervise lifeguards and cashiers while on duty.
· Keen attention to detail with the ability to thoroughly monitor numerous different areas at once.
· Ability to react appropriately in stressful, high-pressure, and fast-paced emergency situations.
· Compassionate and service-oriented attitude with a passion for maintaining the safety of the facility.
· Excellent communications skills.
· Willingness to work independently and as part of team.
