Recreation Specialist (Adult Sports Volleyball)
Part-Time, Year-round Position (Temporary, Non-Benefited)

Position Descriptions
Recreation Specialist (Adult Sports Volleyball)
The Recreation Specialist (Adult Sports Volleyball) is responsible for the coordination, organization, scheduling, and supervision of the adult sports competitive volleyball league that is held on Wednesday evenings, potentially Thursdays. This position will work out of the Centennial Recreation Center.
SALARY
The salary range for this position is $24.00 to $27.00 per hour. This is a part-time non-benefited position.
SCHEDULE
This is a part-time position that will work roughly 4-5 hours a week. Applicants must be available to work Wednesday evenings, potentially Thursdays from roughly 5pm-10pm.
SELECTION PROCESS
Applications will be screened, and those applicants determined to have the best experience, skills, and qualifications will be invited for an oral interview. Prior to appointment, applicant must authorize a reference check.
As a condition of employment, a background check must be completed, including fingerprinting for submission to the Department of Justice.

Education/Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Skill in: Interpreting and implementing policies and procedures; learning and adapting to changing priorities and multiple demands; effectively communicating; displaying outstanding customer service skills by providing information and assistance to customers in an effective manner.
Special Requirements: Position requires availability of 4-5 hours per week. Must be able to lift boxes and other objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Part-time, temporary positions are non-benefitted, at-will positions. Part-time employees are enrolled in the PARS retirement system and the employee pays 7.5%, which is deducted from the employees' payroll check. The PARS retirement system is in lieu of participating in social security. Part-time employees participate in the Medicare portion of social security as that is a required program.
You may accrue up to 40 hours a year in sick leave based on the number of hours worked within the year.

- Coordinates, organizes, supervises and evaluates competitive volleyball sports programs.
- Manage day-to-day tasks related to the operation of sports programs, including, but not limited to program registration, schedules, coordinating and communicating with officials and participants, enforcing rules and policies, and resolving customer concerns.
- Assist with marketing of sports programs.
- Provides exemplary customer service to and communicates with program participants regarding programs.
- Resolve customer issues in a professional manner with a customer first focus while adhering to policies and procedures.
- Communicate with management regarding issues, incidents or injuries that may occur.
- Respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in emergency situations.
- Provides support to their supervisor on a variety of assignments.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Ensure the overall safety of all program areas.
Qualification Requirements
Education/Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Prior experience in volleyball sports programming is required.
- Valid American Red Cross Adult and Child CPR and First Aid Certification is required and must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
