This position monitors the community parks and recreation program for adults and youth, to include, but not limited to cultural arts, physical activities, special interest classes, and other events. Works under the general supervision of the Director of Parks and Recreation, Recreation Coordinator, Operations Manager and/or Recreation Supervisor.
- High School Diploma or GED with one or more years of recreation experience preferred, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Pre-employment drug screening and background check is required. All candidates must be willing to submit to random drug screenings.
- First Aid and CPR certifications preferred or must be obtained immediately after hire.

Requirements and Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED with one or more years of recreation experience preferred, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Must comply with all City rules and regulations (PPM). All candidates must be willing to submit to random drug screenings.
First Aid and CPR certifications preferred or must be obtained immediately after hire.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and public.

Ability to handle stressful situations.
Maintain good physical condition in order to work outdoors under various weather conditions, as well as indoors. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit. To use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects and operate equipment or controls. They may also have to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required of this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Corrective lenses may be worn to aid in specific
vision requirements.
Requires normal hearing abilities.
Possess current Ohio state driver’s license.
Must be of good moral character with no disqualifying criminal history.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Supervises classes, workshops, rooms, and activities for adults or youth engaged in parks and recreation programs.
2. Monitors physical activities, day camps, and special interest activities.
3. Responds to public inquiries about recreation programs made by telephone, correspondence, or during public meetings.
4. Prepares for publication a variety of brochures, calendars, letters, posters, news releases, flyers, and related communications regarding recreation programs.
5. Coordinates, schedules, and maintains related records and statistics for programs and personnel.
6. Oversees sports programs, registers children for teams, collects fees, acquires coaches, assigns practice times, distributes and collects uniforms.
7. Maintains a variety of records, including registrations, reservations, permission slips, purchasing, accidents, and vandalism, etc.
8. Coordinates various tournaments throughout the year for a variety of sports, such as, table tennis, softball, volleyball, etc.
9. Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties such as answering phone, typing correspondence, running errands, picking up supplies needed for activities, conducting arts/crafts activities for children, making arrangements for rental use, helping set up tables and chairs for classes, etc.
10. Assists in the scheduling of activities.
11. Promotes interest and provides information regarding recreation programs to school officials, other recreation officials, community service groups, other departments, and the general public.
12. Maintain current CPR and first aid certifications.
13. Maintain clean and neat appearance. Uniforms shall be worn at all times. Jewelry should be kept to a minimum.
14. Maintain regular and timely attendance - dressed and ready for work at scheduled time.
15. Drive City vehicles.
16. Perform other duties as required.
