You\'ll play an important role in ensuring accurate water metering &

exceptional customer service throughout the City. Whether you\'re

installing & maintaining water meters, troubleshooting automated meter

reading equipment, locating underground utilities, or assisting

customers in the field, your work helps ensure reliable utility service

& accurate billing for our community.\

Working independently under general supervision, you\'ll use technical

skills, sound judgment, & excellent customer service to complete a

variety of field service activities while maintaining accurate records &

promoting safe work practices.

## Essential Duties

• Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace water
  
  

meters and components of computerized meter-reading system.

• Perform field locates of underground water, sanitary/storm sewers
  
  

and City-owned electric/traffic utilities using maps, plans, digital

or hard copy records, GIS maps and specialized electronic detection

equipment.

• Collect water meter readings on an assigned route using computerized
  
  

meter-reading system and ensure readings are accurately transmitted

to billing personnel.

• Perform various tasks to ensure the completeness and accuracy of
  
  

meter readings. Investigate abnormal readings and circumstances.

• Perform various field service tasks, including activities such as:
  
  

turn on and turn off water; investigate customer complaints; collect

water samples; collect initial and final meter readings; and deliver

notices.

• Maintain computerized records relating to metering, field service,
  
  

and cross connection control activities.

• Maintain inventory of metering system parts and supplies.
• Troubleshoot and repair components of computerized meter reading
  
  

system.

• Conduct large meter tests.
• Promote communication and information flow.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

## Residency Requirement

AFSCME employees shall live within a 20-mile radius from the Citys

Emergency Center, located at 1630 8th Avenue in Moline, within 180 days

of hire.
