What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil Engineering Intern position at City of Minnetonka?
The primary objective of this position is to assist the various aspects of the engineering department on a variety of projects related to construction inspection, traffic, mapping, data collection, streets, utilities and sidewalks. This is a seasonal summer position (40 hour work week preferred). The position is subject to a background/driver's license check and a pre-employment drug test.
- Assists with the inspection of construction projects including streets, water main, sanitary sewer, storm drainage systems and sidewalks.
- Inspection and data inventory for the city's storm sewer system.
- Assists with traffic data collection.
- Assists engineering staff with geographical information systems (GIS) mapping.
- GPS survey data collection.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- A commitment to and belief in the organization's shared values.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university/technical Civil Engineering program.
- Valid driver's license.
Desirable Job Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year completed in an accredited college/university/technical Civil Engineering program.
- Experience in some aspects of GIS and GPS mapping.
- Experience with stormwater/storm sewer utility systems.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Customer service experience.
