SCHEDULE:

Full-Time - 8 Hour Shifts (On Call When Needed)

SALARY:

$16.854/hour - $35,056.32/year

Negotiable depending upon qualifications and experience

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT:

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for operating various equipment to assist with the completion of restoration projects in a safe, efficient, and professional manner while maintaining an exception standard of quality and value for our customers. High functioning equipment operators may have increased opportunities through onsite project & crew management.

MAJOR DUTIES OF POSITION:

• Operates equipment to advance construction and maintenance projects, drives vehicles over public roads, work sites, and other City property.
• Monitors immediate environment and work area to ensure the safety of operators, other coworkers, the equipment, and the public.
• Performs various tasks involving street, storm-water drainage, and/or right of way maintenance projects.
• Prepares road surfaces for asphalt application. Lays and smoothes asphalt; patches/repairs utility cuts and potholes in road surfaces.
• Lays and/or build concrete forms for catch-basins, sidewalks and curbing; pours ditches, & catch basins, construct asphalt driveway tie-ins.
• Installs, repairs, and/or replaces water mains, service lines, hydrants, and related components of the distribution system.

SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:

• Knowledge of city policies and procedures and safety rules and regulations.
• Skills in operating equipment such as tractor mower, dump truck, bulldozer, backhoe, and street sweeper,
• Skill in operating power tools such as chain saws and weed eaters.
• Ability to analyze situations to pinpoint problems and assist with solving those problems.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships as required by work assignments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant MUST meet minimum qualifications to be considered.

• 3 Years experience operating construction equipment, and/or 1 years’ experience operating equipment under a Public Works municipality.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Valid Georgia Driver’s license
• Experience with stormwater infrastructure maintenance.
