Join our dynamic team at the Engineering Services Department as an Engineer I and make a meaningful impact on our City’s infrastructure! Under the general direction of the City Engineer, or their designated representative, you will play a crucial role in the planning, design, and implementation of various capital improvement projects throughout the City of Midland. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, including road and drainage infrastructure, water and wastewater systems, parks and recreational facilities, and more.
- Design and/or manage the design of projects within the Engineering Services Department, ensuring adherence to standards, project schedules, and budgets.
- Supervise the preparation of construction drawings, cost estimates, specifications, bid documents, and construction schedules.
- Coordinate with consultants, regulatory agencies, and contractors through planning, design, and construction phases to ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and permitting requirements.
- Stay abreast of emerging industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements to continuously improve engineering process and methodologies.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, with a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas or the ability to obtain one within six (6) months.
- Minimum of five (5) years of civil engineering experience, with experience in design/managing capital improvement projects; municipal experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and other relevant engineering software.
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and standards, including but not limited to transportation, water resources, utilities, and infrastructure design.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
