Employee will be exposed to seasonal temperatures while performing maintenance duties and be exposed to potentially hazardous equipment and traffic. Employee will be exposed to work zones consisting of high-volume vehicular traffic. Employee must be able to lift working materials.

Essential Job Duties
- Performs routine maintenance and/or construction on streets, alleys, right of ways, drainage channels, etc.
- Patch streets and alleys with hot mix or cold mix asphalt
- Crack seal
- Clean inlets
- Maintain flow lines in channels
- Pick up litter in basins and channels
- Mow and trim weeds in basins and channels
- Set storm sewer pipe for drainage improvement projects
- Assist in storm water pump maintenance
- Performs daily preventative maintenance of motorized equipment or hand tools.
- Attend safety meetings monthly
- Maintains tools and equipment in good and safe operating condition.
- Keeps jobsite and vehicles/equipment neat and in order.
- Performs any related duties needed to complete projects.
- Performs pre-trip/post-trip vehicle/equipment inspections. Maintains records of work performed such as work schedules, status reports and records of work orders.
- Assists with the proper set up of work zone traffic control.
- Fulfill on-call duties as required and outlined on Transportation’s on-call roster.
- Assists with the maintenance of Transportation’s building and grounds.
- Assists other City divisions and departments as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of, experience or training in construction and maintenance of streets and underground drainage systems
- Knowledge of safety practices and hazards standard to work area
- Skill to operate various light equipment and machinery
- Ability to understand and implement verbal and written instructions
