Nature of Work
Semi-skilled work at the apprentice level as a helper to masons or other supervisors working with masonry.
Illustrative Examples of Essential Duties
Assists in the construction of a variety of masonry, stone, concrete, and cement structures to assist in the laying of cement block and bricks in auxiliary buildings and structures.
Assists in the forming, placing, finishing, and repair of concrete curbs, gutters, and sidewalks.
Drives a truck in the transporting of workers and materials to and from locations.
Adheres to standard safety procedures.
Establishes and maintains effective working relations with employees and the public.
Performs related work as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Six (6) months verifiable experience in concrete finishing work and form building.
Driver's license.
Obtain Class "B" Commercial Driver's License valid for air brakes within 90 days of appointment.
Physical Requirements:
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact.Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to, word processor, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
Significant walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, and kneeling.
Some crawling, reaching, and handling, sitting, standing, pushing and pulling.
Heavy lifting - excessive bending and kneeling.
