This recruitment is for the Branch Operations Supervisor I position on the Outreach Team, based out of the Main Library branch; however, the eligible list created from this opening may be used to fill future Branch Operations Supervisor I vacancies at other locations. We are seeking a dynamic individual with a proven track record in leadership and operational management. The ideal candidate will oversee operations of the Mesa Express Library and the bookmobile, including staff supervision, customer service, and ensuring compliance with City and Library policies. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, we encourage you to apply.

A Branch Operations Supervisor I performs duties and responsibilities at a small branch, express library, or mobile library (Outreach Assignment) which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following tasks: plans, organizes, supervises, and oversees the day-to-day customer service operations and general maintenance of the building, vehicle, or unit; recruiting, selecting, scheduling, training, supervising, and evaluating full-time and part-time employees and volunteers; shelving operations; deals with patron disputes, fines, and accounts turned over to collection agencies; monitors cash register and e-commerce use, verifies accuracy of daily receipts, and prepares cash deposits; orders supplies and equipment; may oversee processing and circulation of periodicals and newspapers including check-in and display; represents Circulation and Shelving Units at administrative meetings and serves on committees; assists in developing and implementing new policies and procedures for circulation; provides reports as needed; and coordinates evacuation plans. This class performs other duties as required.

This class is distinguished from the Branch Operations Supervisor II classification by the responsibility of managing the operations of a small branch library, express library, or mobile library (by assignment) with fewer staff and fewer patrons instead of a large regional library. This class is supervised by a Branch Coordinator I, Supervisory Librarian, and/or Librarian III who reviews work through conferences, meetings, reports, and results achieved. Night and weekend work is required. This class is FLSA exempt-administrative.
