Public Health Nurse I – Per Diem (School Year)
The City of Meriden, Department of Health and Human Services, is hiring per diem Public Health Nurse I's to work in a school health office at the elementary, middle, and high school level. Must be available between 7:00am and 3:45pm during the school year as hours vary at each grade level.
This position consists of varied public health nursing duties under the supervision of the Public Health Nurse Administrator. The Public Health Nurse I serves as a resource person to classroom teachers and others pertaining to health instruction; plans and participates in manners pertaining to health appraisals; provides first aid care in emergencies; gives prescribed treatments, administers health screenings, maintains accurate records, interprets and complies with laws, regulations, and ordinances regarding public health work, and prepares narrative and statistical reports as needed.
The candidate must have graduated from a recognized nursing school and/or a recognized college or university with a degree in nursing, following a course of study including approved programs in public health nursing. The candidate must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Connecticut, and have had the RN license for a minimum of 1 year. Hourly salary is $34.00 per hour.
