As a Fountain & Splash Pad Attendant, you’ll play an important role in the daily care, operation, maintenance, and overall upkeep of these public amenities. Required Education and Experience:
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
- Must be 18 years of age by date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of fountain and splash pad maintenance.
- General knowledge of building maintenance and plumbing.
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
Ability to:
- Learn aquatic systems and chemical testing procedures associated with fountain and splash pad systems.
- Work independently without continuous supervision.
- Conform with all safety rules and perform work in a safe manner.
- Operate pressure washers and back-pack leaf blowers.
- Perform physical labor safely in all types of local weather.
- Work with and around the public in a positive manner.
- Demonstrate good attention to detail.
- Follow written and verbal instructions.
- Demonstrate excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Possess a valid driver's license by date of hire. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver's license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)).
- Maintain an acceptable driving record throughout employment.
- Successfully complete a background investigation to the satisfaction of the City.

Seasonal (up to 6 months): Up to 40 hours per week
- Sunday - Wednesday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- Wednesday - Saturday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Compensation & Information on Benefits
The anticipated hiring range for the Pool & Splash Pad Attendant position is $18.36 (first step) to $19.28 or $20.24 (second or third step). The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education, experience, and qualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials, alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act. Three steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

Examples of Job Duties
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Daily preparation of fountains and splash pads.
- Assure fountains and splash pads are functional during all hours of operation.
- Assist Building Utility Technicians on fountain and splash pad operation and repair; as well as general building maintenance repairs; and working out of the department maintenance shop on special projects.
- Restore the correct water levels and chemical balance for fountains and splash pads.
- Assist with maintaining and repairing fountain and splash pad equipment, including filters, pumps, and chlorinators.
- Complete designated job tasks, special projects, and all other duties as assigned to meet team, department, and City goals while working cooperatively, efficiently, and productively in a team environment.
- Actively demonstrate high levels of employee engagement, accountability, coachability, and responsibility for personal performance and results.
- Demonstrate initiative to incorporate and implement learning principles from informal and formal training, as well as feedback from leaders and co-workers.
- Drive City vehicle to various locations to perform work.
- Report major equipment faults to supervisor.
