What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreational Aide position at CITY OF MAUMELLE?
Recreational Aides work part-time at the Jess Odom Community Center reception desks to assist patrons and guests, and work special events when needed. To be eligible for this position, you must be able to work between 5:00AM-9:00AM on weekdays and/or weekends.
Essential Job Duties
1. Open and close the facility.
2. Assist patrons by answering questions regarding memberships, leagues, rules, or other general questions with a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
3. Process membership applications and class registrations.
4. Confirm membership status for patrons and collect daily fees for guests.
5. Be knowledgeable of all community center rules and regulations, and enforce these rules and regulations in a fair, consistent manner.
6. Work in the nursery when needed.
7. Work the annual Daddy Daughter Dance, Mother Son Dance, Halloween Haunted House and Carnival, 4th Fest, Summer Camps, and other special events as needed.
8. Work shifts as assigned by the Office Administrator and directed by the Activities Coordinator, assisting with 1st and 2nd-grade Basketball and Adult Athletic Leagues.
9. Assist in setup/take-down as needed for assigned rentals and special events held at the Center.
10. Assist with the general cleanliness and upkeep of the Lake Willastein Pavilion, as needed.
11. Perform other activities and duties as deemed necessary by the Parks and Recreation administrative staff.
Qualifications
To fill the requirements of this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The education and experience below are reflective of the knowledge and skills generally required to succeed in this role.
- Must have a reliable form of transportation.
- Must be able to work the listed hours, and be at least seventeen (17) years of age at the time of employment.
- Must have at least a general education background (high school completion not required).
- 0-6 months related experience and/or training preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to effectively deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
- Recreation Aides will interact with the Director, Assistant Director, Administrative Assistant, Activities Coordinator, Facility Managers, and Office Administrator on a daily basis.
EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
- Rec. Aides will also interact with patrons and guests of the Community Center on a daily basis.
USE OF EQUIPMENT AND/OR COMPUTERS
- In this role, you will utilize general office equipment, including: computers, fax machines, copiers, security monitors, and card printers.
