EQUIPMENT OPERATOR - MARINETTE PUBLIC WORKS
City of Marinette, WI

The City of Marinette is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Heavy Equipment Operator in our Public Works Department. This full-time role is essential to maintaining our city’s infrastructure and services.

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating various types of heavy machinery, including but not limited to loaders, backhoes, graders, and snowplows. Duties include street maintenance, snow removal, excavation, and other public works projects. This position requires adherence to safety protocols and the ability to perform routine equipment maintenance.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; Valid Wisconsin Class B or C Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement (N). Minimum of two years’ experience in equipment operation, road maintenance, or construction preferred. Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to equipment operation. Ability to perform physical labor and work in various weather conditions. EOE

Residency: Applicant is required to within six months of hire, establish residency within thirty (30) miles of the jurisdictional boundary of the City of Marinette in the State of Wisconsin.

Pay: The 2026 hourly pay for this position is $28.76 / hour. This position is eligible for the annual COLA pending City Council approval.

Job Type: The typical work schedule is 40 hours a week, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm (hours outside of normal schedule may vary based on seasonal and emergency response).
