Job Summary
Work in this class involves responsibility for overseeing recreational activities. Work is performed with some independence in achieving objectives and in carrying out structured programming with participants. Individuals in this class receive supervision from the Recreation Assistant and/or the Recreation Director.
Essential Job Functions
- Assures safety compliance of participants.
- Assist Recreational Assistant in the performance of his/her duties.
- Develops youth education and recreation programming and works in conjunction with local civic organizations and other groups sponsoring such programs.
- Confer with supervisor to discuss and resolve participant complaints.
- Enforce rules and regulations of recreational facilities to maintain discipline and ensure safety.
- Administer first aid according to prescribed procedures and notify emergency medical personnel when necessary.
- Explain procedures, techniques, and safety procedures to participants in recreational activities and demonstrate use of materials and equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education, Training and Experience: Graduation from a standard high school or GED; one-year experience in recreation or a related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Special Requirements:
- Valid driver license.
- Certification in CPR and first aid must be received within six months of employment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of rules and techniques, equipment and requirements of a variety of recreation activities.
- Ability to receive oral and written communications in English.
- Ability to deal with the public tactfully and diplomatically.
- Ability to perform light to heavy manual work.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Skill in the activities related for which hired.
Pay: From $15.38 per hour
