The Position
The City of Maple Grove is seeking a Skating School Instructor to teach Learn to Skate USA© elements to participants in a group setting. This position will help foster a positive learning environment for all participants, to help develop their skating skills and confidence. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Skating Director.
- Assist the Skating Director to facilitate the continual success of the Maple Grove Skating School.
- Maintain a positive attitude, emotional maturity and exemplary conduct.
- Teach Learn to Skate USA elements to participants in a group setting following the rules of Learn to Skate USA© and the Maple Grove Skating School Instructor Guidelines.
- Instruct participants with positive reinforcement to uphold a relaxed, orderly and calm atmosphere.
- Communicate general information to parents/guardians.
- Familiarization of the emergency and accident procedures that are provided by the City of Maple Grove.
- Perform other related duties as requested by the Skating Director.
Knowledge of:
- Learn to Skate USA© program elements.
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively with the skating director, other instructors, participants, and parents/guardians.
- Work independently.
- Positively motivate children and adults.
- Maintain order in a group setting.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 15 years of age or older.
- Must be able to skate on ice with participants.
- Member of Learn to Skate USA© or able to become a member within two weeks of hire.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of Learn to Skate USA© program elements.
- Experience working with children and adults.
- Experience or ability to teach Learn to Skate USA© elements to children and adults.
Salary : $19 - $30
