The Position

Make a difference by responding to fire, hazmat, rescue, medical, and other emergency incidents while helping protect the people and neighborhoods of Maple Grove. We will help guide your training and certifications to prepare you for the job and help you progress from an apprentice to a full firefighter. POSITION OPTIONS & SALARY
Apprentice Firefighter - $12.76Applicants with no training or experience who do not possess the minimum certifications start as an Apprentice Firefighter (part-time/on-call) while completing training provided by the Maple Grove Fire Department. Minimum certifications must be completed within two years of being hired. Maple Grove Fire Department pays for the required training and time spent attending the training.
Firefighters - $20.18
Applicants who have completed an 18-month probationary period become regular Firefighters (part-time/on-call) with the Maple Grove Fire Department.
- Responds to emergency incidents within assigned district in accordance with minimum participation requirements.
- Participates in fire prevention and safety education activities as assigned.
- Participates in scheduled drills, and other required training activities, and meets minimum participation and competency verification requirements.
- Participates in station and apparatus maintenance activities.
- Serves on standby crew and/or duty crew as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as apparent or assigned.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a valid Minnesota Driver's License free of restrictions or suspensions and/or reckless driving behavior.
- Must be a Maple Grove resident or live within a 5 minute drive time (Approved by Fire Administration) to a Maple Grove Fire Station AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION. Check response time here: Response time map
- Experience in firefighting, rescue, EMS, or other public safety responder experience.
- Advanced certification in firefighting, rescue, response to hazardous materials incidents, or in provision of emergency medical care.
- State of Minnesota Firefighter License.
