The coordinator also provides Victim’s Assistance services to victims of serious crimes. This position is central to the department’s proactive, compassionate, and community-focused approach to providing assistance to the citizens that have been a victim of a crime.

Required Knowledge Skills And Abilities
- Completion of Crisis Intervention Training or ability to obtain within 6-months of moving into the role.
- Strong Interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to de-escalate volatile situations.
- Familiar with local mental health systems, services, and resources
- Excellent communication, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a self-directed role.
- Ability to comprehend and demonstrate knowledge provided in literacy or education material
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks effectively without assistance
- Ability to evaluate and develop reports in areas of responsibility
- Knowledge of the Texas Health and Safety Code, Chapter 571
- Knowledge of Texas Mental Health Resources and Protections
- Knowledge of SB1164, 2025-26, 89th Texas Legislature
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Certification as a Mental Health Officer or Bachelor’s Degree in related field
- 3-5 years of experience
- Current Class “C” Texas Driver’s License
- Master’s Degree in related field
- Clinical Social Worker Experience
- Experience in working with Mental Health Organizations
- All employees of this classification in addition are required to meet necessary performance standards on an ongoing basis with regards to any test which may be required by department policy regarding the satisfactory operation of a motor vehicle.
The physical activity of this position
- The employee must have the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to move throughout the building to access equipment and work areas as needed.
- Operate computers and other office equipment regularly.
- May remain stationary (sitting or standing) for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry training materials or equipment up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to perform field activities, calls for service with an Officer and travel between departments and other training locations.
- Works in an office environment with moderate noise from equipment and conversations; must effectively communicate and exchange accurate information.
- Collaborate with team members in person and through virtual communication tools.
