Real Property Appraiser Assistant - Grade 12

Position Details

Salary: $22.15 per hour

Status: Seasonal

Summary of Position:

This position is responsible for assisting with the appraisal of real property in the City of Mandan.

Major Duties:

• Performs internal and external inspections of residential and light commercial properties, collecting field data, measuring, and listing quality and condition of buildings.
• Enter and update a variety of information in the computer-aided mass-appraisal (CAMA) system including photographs, sketches, etc.
• Updates permit information, prints summaries and reports.
• Prepares and mails a variety of correspondence to property owners.
• Helps establish land values using topography and market information.
• Employs computer-aided mass appraisal system to value property.
• Analyses property sales.
• Performs related duties.

Required Knowledges:

• Knowledge of building materials and construction practices.
• Knowledge of the geographic lay-out of the city.
• Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
• Skill in the use of measuring equipment and cameras for the purpose of valuing real property.
• Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
• Skill in oral and written communication.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position and working knowledge of construction types and techniques, computer applications, and customer service.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Dakota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
