General Description
The City of Madison Water Utility is looking for qualified applicants for our Accounting Technician 3 vacancy. This is responsible advanced-level paraprofessional accounting work in the preparation of payroll and in the development and reconciliation of complex accounting records/reports in the Finance area of the Water Utility. The work requires extensive knowledge of the payroll system and application of operating policies, systems, procedures and handbooks. Employee processes Water Utility payroll, including payroll adjustments and confidential information. Employee is responsible for cash receipts journal, accounts receivable invoicing, collection, account reconciliations and preparation of various financial statements and reports. Employee exercises considerable judgment and discretion in meeting these objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
- One (1) year of paraprofessional accounting experience comparable to Accounting Technician 2; AND
- Three (3) years of advanced level accounting clerical or bookkeeping experience

- Associate's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Information Technology, or related field; AND
- One (1) year of advanced level accounting clerical or bookkeeping experience

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Information Technology, or related field
