The City of Macomb, Illinois, is hiring a Maintenance Worker (Operator I in Training) for the Operations Division.
Key Responsibilities:
· Operates light equipment, small equipment and hand tools as required for the assigned work.
· Operates heavy equipment as qualified or under instruction when training.
· Performs manual labor as required to complete the assigned work.
· Exercises the decisions and judgments required to complete the assigned tasks.
· Performs minor recordkeeping appropriate to the assignment.
· Exercises safe work practices.
· Set up barricades, fences, and railings on work sites necessary to protect the public and employees.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Class B CDL within 180 days of hire
- Residency in McDonough County
- Pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check
Compensation & Benefits:
- Starting Salary: $40,958.05 annually ($19.70 per hour).
- Advancement Opportunities: Employees may advance to Operator I starting at $45,776.64 annually ($22.01 per hour), upon successful completion of required training, certifications, and operator licensing.
