PARKS & RECREATION - Trails Crewleader I

DESCRIPTION

Support the Parks & Recreation Department by ensuring all city-managed trails are safe, clean, and accessible for public use. This position is responsible for supervising employees, maintaining equipment, and coordinating and planning trail upkeep and improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; additional relevant certifications preferred.

• Proven experience in park maintenance or landscaping, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role is preferred.

• Valid Texas Driver license at time of placement.
• Flexibility to work weekends or evenings for special events or projects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of horticulture, groundskeeping practices, and safety regulations.
• Skills in leadership and effective communication.
• Ability to operate and oversee the use of various landscaping equipment.

MAJOR DUTIES

• Lead and supervise a team of trail maintenance and landscaping personnel, including two seasonal employees.
• Coordinate and assign daily tasks to ensure efficient use of resources and adherence to schedules.
• Perform and oversee trash and debris removal, trail clearing, and general trail maintenance.
• Assist with tree removal and manage the upkeep of trail-related equipment.
• Conduct regular trail inspections to identify and address maintenance needs promptly.
• Provide additional support to Parks Maintenance staff when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Parks and Recreation Department.

This position is an essential service position and will require providing services during emergency situations.
