What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Advisor position at City of Lubbock, TX?
Coordinate automotive and equipment repairs between Fleet Services and user departments or outside vendors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform service advisory duties including: service writing, scheduling vehicles for repair, clerical duties related to service desk and handling customer complaints.
- Assign repair work to technicians.
- Order and maintain parts for vehicle repair
- Notify departments when service is completed.
- Create or close work orders.
- Monitor, assess, and distribute work loads.
- Coordinate parts pick up for technicians. Post repair status changes on vehicles and equipment on the computer.
- Operate computer terminals to maintain records.
- Perform related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional one to three years experience in automotive and equipment maintenance and shop operations; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:
Physical Exam Required
Valid Current Commercial Driver's License
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
- Vehicle and equipment maintenance and shop operations.

- Order and maintain automotive parts
- Frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally stand, walk, bend, and kneel during the shift.
- Occasionally climb stairs, ladders, and other inclined surfaces.
- Occasionally push and pull objects.
- Occasionally flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees.
- Occasionally rotate upper turnk to the left or right while sitting or standing.
- Frequently place arms above, at, and below shoulder height.
- Coordinate eye, hand, and foot movement in order to operate a vehicle.
