Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Public Works to lead and oversee the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of essential public infrastructure projects. Provide technical assistance to other City departments and staff. Participate in development and capital improvement plan reviews. Direct, inspect, and participate in field operations.

Responsibilities

· Must have leadership skills to manage all Street Department personnel in accomplishing assigned tasks.

· Ability to prepare an annual multi-million-dollar budget for approval.

· Interpret and review engineering plans for street and drainage projects.

· Negotiation skills for equipment rental and purchases.

· Strong relationship skills for public and staff personnel.

· Presentation Skills for oral and written communication to City and Council personnel.

· Responsible for all traffic light maintenance/repair or coordination of.

· Responsible for all street/road density tests & preconstruction meetings and/or coordination of.

· Responsible for all curb/sidewalk inspections and/or coordination of.

· Responsible for STEP fields/maintenance or coordination of.

· Responsible for all Parks related maintenance/repairs or coordination of.

· Responsible for all Stormwater related inspections/reports or coordination of.

Responsible for all road closure approvals and notifications of emergency services

Qualifications:

Education: Education equivalent to the completion of 12th grade. Some college preferred.

Experience: Three to Five years related experience; may substitute additional experience for education. Experience time may be substituted by the mayor.

Knowledge of: Engineering site plan drawings as they relate to topological grade differential, percentage of grade and slope, etc.

Responsibility for: Great responsibility for the care, condition, and use of materials, equipment money, and tools; positively representing the City.

Communication Skills: Ability to professionally furnish and obtain information from other departments; requiring tact and judgment to avoid friction; constant contact with the public presenting data; frequent contacts with Mayor on matters requiring explanations and discussions; requiring tact and judgment to deal with and influence people; requires a well-developed sense of strategy and timing; ability to deal well with upset and irate people.

Tool, Machine, Equipment Operations: Recall a wide variety of names and faces; requires periodic use of a computer, printer, copier, and telephone system.

Analytical Ability:Communicate effectively verbally and in writing; follow verbal and written instructions; prioritize task; establish effective working relationships with employees and the public; ability to apply simple to complex concepts to the solution of problems and performance of assigned duties; work independently with little supervision.

Must have a valid Arkansas driver's license with a clean driving record.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

Salary : $80,000 - $100,000
