Job Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
- Reviews the daily shift summaries and daily logs as we as CPS mapping of work areas covered to include follow up activities for complaints, violations and validity regarding code issues
- Maintains a working relationship and communication with other law enforcement agencies
- Maintains a daily activity log, monthly and annual statistics, and monthly reports as directed.
- Responsible for tracking on-going investigations and submitting reports to City Manager on a regular basis.
- Attend meetings and serves as a resource to other City departments, divisions, the public, and outside agencies in the enforcement of zoning regulations; provide research and documentation for meetings
- Assists with public education efforts and activities, such as the development of brochures, and other public speaking engagements as assigned
- Assist in researching, drafting, and rewriting municipal codes; participate in the development of forms and processes utilized to address various issues.
- Complies with all relevant rules and regulations at the federal, state, city, and department level.
- Performs a variety of field and office work in support of the City’s local code enforcement program; enforce compliance with City regulations and ordinances including those pertaining to zoning, land use, nuisance housing, building codes, health and safety, blight, graffiti, water waste, and other matters of public concern.
- Responds and conducts field investigations on all citizen complaints and reports from other agencies and departments on alleged violations of City zoning and related municipal codes and ordinances; interview complainants and witnesses and maintains all related documentation to conduct follow-up functions to gain compliance
- Maintains accurate documentation and case files on all investigations, inspections, enforcement actions, and other job-related activities including accurate and detailed information regarding code enforcement activity to substantiate violations; draw diagrams and illustrations and take photographs.
- Prepares appropriate court documentation as required; maintain working relationship and communication with prosecutor’s office, testify at hearings and in court proceedings as required.
- Patrols all city areas in a City vehicle to identify and evaluate problem areas and/or ordinance violations; determine proper method to resolve violations.
- Operate computers to enter, process, and acquire data related to complaints, inspection sites, and effective code enforcement; research complaints.
- Locates vacant residences and businesses; secure buildings with proper materials as necessary; post the property as necessary; check vacant buildings regularly for transient activity, graffiti, and other forms of vandalism.

Minimum/Mandatory Qualifications:
Experience: 3-4 years progressively responsible field experience in municipal code enforcement
Education: High School Diploma or GED; must acquire AACE Certifications within first 12 months.
Preferred Qualifications: AACE Certifications, Bilingual skills in English/Spanish

- Knowledge of pertinent codes, ordinances, laws, and regulations
- pertaining to zoning, nuisance abatement, property maintenance,
- building construction, health and safety, and related areas.
- Knowledge of methods and techniques of business correspondence
- and technical report preparation.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications and standard
- office equipment
- Must be able to work odd hours or overtime on occasion, including
- nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to work in all outdoor environmental conditions
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
