Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Louisville Recreation Supervisor, the Gym Monitor provides supervision at Louisville Elementary, Fireside Elementary, and Louisville Middle School gyms during high-volume usage including evening and weekend hours. The Gym Monitor must be 21 years of age and assists with facility setup, equipment management, and communicates any concerns to supervisory staff. This role requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.This position offers a free monthly pass to the Louisville Recreation Center!
- Supervises activities of the gymnasium to ensure participants abide by city and BVSD rules and regulations.
- Enforces league and facility rules and policies.
- Proactively works with patrons to prevent player disturbances. Disciplines players displaying unsportsmanlike behavior.
- Sets up equipment.
- Reports any issues and/or concerns to a supervisor or management staff.
- Ensures all possible safety measures are observed.
- Responds to emergency situations as required and maintains accurate accident and incident reports.
- Complies with city and departmental rules and regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
CPR / First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of basic recreation programs. Knowledge of basic first aid.
- Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
- Skill in dealing tactfully and effectively with the public.
- Skill in the safe and lawful operation of a motor vehicle when driving is required.
- Ability to work with the public.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays, or flexible schedules.
- Ability to work well with others.
Work Environment:
Frequent exposure to high noise levels that may cause distractions.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, kneel, squat, stoop, climb, crawl, repeatedly twist the upper body, talk, hear, see and demonstrate manual dexterity, and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. The employee must demonstrate the ability to remain calm during routine and stressful conditions.
