City Treasurer
Location: Louisiana, Missouri
Position Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Department: Administration (City Hall)
Reports To: City Administrator
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; 1 Monthly City Council Meeting on the 4th Monday.
Pay: $19/hr. $1/hr performance raises at three, and six months. Annual performance raises after.

Position Summary
The City of Louisiana, Missouri is accepting applications for the position of City Treasurer. The City Treasurer is responsible for maintaining accurate records of City receipts, disbursements, appropriations, investments, indebtedness, and fund balances. The position works with all departments to support sound financial management and transparent reporting.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The City Treasurer’s duties include, but are not limited to:

• Receive, safely keep, account for, and disburse City monies, records, reports, statements, and other fiscal information in accordance with law and ordinance.
• Maintain accurate financial records of receipts, disbursements, appropriations, investments, indebtedness, and fund balances.
• Ensure City accounts are properly reconciled.
• Assist in preparation of the annual City budget.
• Assist with financial reports, audits, and other financial documents required for proper administration of City affairs.
• Provide information and recommendations concerning the financial affairs of the City when requested by the Mayor, City Administrator, Enterprise Director, or City Council.
• Prepare monthly financial reports showing expenditures, accounts payable, accrued expenditures for the fiscal year, and unexpended balances of appropriated funds for each department.
• File required reports with the City Clerk and provide copies to the Mayor and Finance Committee as required.
• Carefully and promptly perform official acts required by applicable federal law, state law, and City ordinance.
• Perform related duties as assigned or required.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Accounting or bookkeeping;
• Budget preparation and monitoring;
• Financial reporting;
• Bank reconciliation;
• Accounts payable and receivable;
• Public-sector auditing or audit preparation;
• Fund accounting;
• Governmental accounting practices..
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with municipal government or another public entity.
• Knowledge of Missouri municipal finance procedures.
• Experience preparing financial reports for elected officials or governing boards.
• Experience assisting with annual budgets and audits.
• Familiarity with Daffron software and spreadsheet programs.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
• A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
