What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Counselor position at City of Longwood (FL)?
Responsible for leadership, supervision and safety of children ages six through fourteen in the Summer Camp Program while attending Summer Camp.Essential Functions: These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. Assists in the operation and supervision of Summer Camp Program and participants under the direction of the Camp Director.
Prepare daily report to Camp Director.
Assume responsibility for assigned equipment and supplies.
Provide for the general safety and well-being of participants of the program.
Provide leadership and program area skills to participants in camp.
Assists Camp Director with opening and closing facility.
Follows safe working practices and has a working knowledge of safety practices and procedures in accordance with the City’s Safety and Health Program.
All employees serve an essential role in the City’s disaster preparation and/or disaster recovery efforts, as may be designated by the City’s Emergency Manager.
Additional Duties: Performs related tasks or other duties as required or assigned.
High School graduate, college level desired. Directly related experience desired. Must maintain a valid Florida driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.Physical Ability
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 15 pounds). Some tasks involve walking, driving, stooping, bending, kneeling and running.
Sensory Requirements
Position requires the ability to communicate orally and visually.
Environmental Factors
Essential functions are regularly performed outside in various weather conditions, as well as, inside functions. Elements are also noisy.
Ages of the camp children are 6-14.
Camp dates are June 1st through July 31st. Shift times vary from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. 40hrs per week.
