Definition:
Support the Nextlight Departments OSP construction, engineering and sales team. The incumbent will provide a wide variety of technical information to commercial sales staff in the determination of inside wiring architecture, customer equipment needs and location of demarcation for each property. The incumbent will also provide information to Nextlight fiber field engineering in regards to outside demarcation and design for laterals and OSP extensions. This person will also assist providing timelines for installations as well as address technical support issues post installation as needed. Additionally, this position will provide technical and trouble-shooting support and direction to commercial customers in regards to network equipment, premise-based phone systems, and other customer premised based systems.
Principal Duties:
- Respond to commercial emails, phone calls and support needs originating from the OSP construction and fiber field engineering. Partner with Commercial Sales team to identify opportunities, overcome technical objections, and close sales. Frequently meets with property management and/or ownership at commercial locations.
- Design and document interior and exterior low-voltage data and fiber optic cabling solutions to meet connectivity requirements for business and multi-tenant buildings. Manage and verify the implementation of provided wiring solutions. Work with property owners/managers to investigate construction and access opportunities, determine optimal paths, and accommodate aesthetics requirements.
- Responsible for providing support in regards to installation of fiber optic cabling, structured networking and phone wiring.
- Analyze customer requirements to design tailored voice solutions, including IP telephony, SIP trunking, and cloud-based phone systems
- Deliver compelling technical presentations and live demonstrations of VoIP platforms, showing how they enhance business, as well as demonstrations of managed network solutions.
- Maintain deep knowledge of industry trends (e.g., VoIP, UCaaS, SmartHome Technologies), competitor solutions, networking infrastructure (LAN/WAN).
- Work with system and design engineers on routing and connection points.
- Work with customers as assigned.
Working Environment:
Work is performed in typical office environment as well as in outside environments. May be working in inclement weather where needed. Requires light (up to 35 lbs.) lifting and carrying, frequent reading, use of math and reasoning. Requires ability to communicate in oral and written form. Frequent travel to meet with customers at their sites. Requires frequent customer contact, multiple concurrent tasks, maintaining confidentiality of customer account information, and working closely with others.
Qualifications:
At least three years of experience related to installation of fiber, coax and Telco systems. Familiarization with different types of CPE (PBX, Firewall, Routers, etc.). Experience with solution based broadband and telco products.
Special Qualifications: Possession of valid Colorado Driver’s License.
