- Starting Salary: $54,371.20
- After Six Months of Successful Employment: $56,451.20
- After One Year of Successful Employment: $58,468.80
- Maximum salary is achieved after three successful years of employment.
NOTE: Annual salary adjustments may also occur based on collective bargaining agreements.
By the closing date of this announcement, an applicant must:
- Be a Citizen of the United States or resident alien with the right to work in the United States; and
- Have a high school diploma or valid equivalency certificate within one year of date-of-hire; and
- Have a minimum of one year of paid work experience; and
- Be eligible for a Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP) for, or have a valid Group ‘A’ Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brake; and
- Have or be eligible for a valid Industrial Truck Driving Permit for operation of a forklift; and
- Be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
NOTE: An employee in this classification is subject to all requirements of the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991, as amended.
PARTS OF EXAMINATION AND WEIGHTS
Written Test - 100%
NOTE: Candidates must pass the written test in order to be placed on the eligible list.
- Reasonable knowledge of hand tools and equipment used in municipal maintenance and construction
- Knowledge of occupational safety rules
- Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools
- Ability to operate light trucks, mowers and tractors
- Ability to perform manual labor in all weather conditions
NOTE: At the time of appointment, applicants are required to pass a pre-employment medical examination conducted by a physician authorized by the City of Livonia.
