An employee in this classification cleans buildings and offices owned or leased by the City.
The employee sweeps, mops, waxes, and buffs floors; changes light bulbs, cleans lenses and light fixtures; washes walls, windows, and blinds; dusts surfaces and other areas; caulks and paints; maintains restrooms; sets up auditoriums and meeting rooms for various meetings and functions; cleans mops, pails, and other equipment as necessary. In general, this employee does whatever is necessary to keep City facilities sanitary and neat. The employee may accept deliveries for City facilities and may distribute supplies to City offices. This employee will assist staff in City facilities. This employee performs related duties as assigned. The job requires lifting a minimum of 50 pounds.

PROBATIONARY PERIOD: Appointees must satisfactorily complete a six-month probationary period before the appointment will be considered regular.
- Starting Salary: $36,732.80
- After Six Months of Successful Employment: $37,523.20
- After One Year of Successful Employment: $38,272.00
- Maximum salary is achieved after three successful years of employment.

- Be a citizen of the United States or resident alien with the right to work in the United States; and
- Have or be eligible for a high school diploma or valid equivalency certificate within one year of date-of-hire; and
- Have a minimum of six months full-time paid work experience preferably custodial, janitorial, laborer, or maintenance work; and
- Be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Be at least 18 years old.

- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision in accomplishing assigned duties

- Ability to adapt and improve methods and procedures used in performing assignments
