REMOTE TESTING IS NOW AVAILABLE!!!
Seating is limited to 10 applicants per session.

In order to utilize Remote Testing, you must have access to BOTH of the following:

  • Mobile smartphone or tablet. The GoToMeeting app will be used as the video/audio app for the Test Proctor to monitor and communicate with candidates during the exam.
  • Desktop or Laptop PC running Windows 10 or later OR a MacOS 10.13 or later. The Safe Exam Browser will be downloaded to this device in order for candidates to take the exam.

  • Take Home Car Program
  • $10,000 Hiring Incentive payable upon Academy graduation.
  • $5,000 Residency Incentive Program .

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
To be considered for employment as a Police Officer with the Little Rock Police Department, applicants must meet the criteria established by the State of Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement, the State of Arkansas Civil Service Statutes, and the Little Rock Civil Service Rules and Regulations (list is not all inclusive).

APPLICATION AND PRELIMINARY BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION: Applicants are required to complete an application and all supplemental questions on-line at https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/littlerock. Candidates will receive a confirmation email once their application has been submitted successfully.

Human Resources will submit all candidates to LRPD personnel for a preliminary background check. If any of the following are found during the preliminary background, the candidate will be automatically disqualified:
  • Invalid driver's license
  • Prior felony conviction - NOTE: Expunged and/or pardoned felonies still disqualify candidates from employment as a Police Officer.
  • Prior domestic abuse conviction
  • Excessive traffic points accrued within the past three years.
Applicants who have successfully completed the on-line application, supplemental questions, and the preliminary background check will receive additional information about scheduling for the written/online exam and physical endurance and ability testing.
Test dates will be available on a first come first served basis. Testing dates will be provided upon testing eligibility verification.
The Department reserves the right to add additional dates or amend these dates based on departmental need.

DELTA DENTAL INSURANCE

Base Plan Emp: $0; Family: $17.46. per pay period.


High Plan: Employee Only: $8.77; Family $44.38


VISION (VSP)

Emp: $0.00; and Family $1.00 per pay period


$0 deductible – co-pays and allowances; $10 co-pay for well vision exam (once every 12 months) plus $50 co-pay for materials, lens & frames or contact lens fitting & evaluation up to $60.


$150 allowance for frames (once every 24-month frames/12-month lenses) Or – Elective Contact Lens - $105 allowance, Necessary Contact Lens $210 allowance once every 12 months.


OTHER PROVIDED INSURANCE

Life Insurance – The Basic Life Benefit is 2x times your salary. Mid Managers and above is 3x your salary. The premium is 100% paid by the employer and is effective your hire date.


Accidental Death & Dismemberment – The AD&D benefit is 1x your annual salary rounded to the next thousand of coverage.


Long Term Disability– 60% of salary continuance after 6-month elimination period.


RETIREMENT


PENSION – All full time, uniform employees

Retirement and disability benefits are provided through the State of Arkansas Local Police and Fire Retirement System (LOPFI) program.


OTHER COMPENSATION


LONGEVITY PAY (provided to all employees)

Longevity pay will be paid at the rate of $4 per month for each year of service up to and including the fifth (5th) year and $6 per month for each year of service beginning at six (6) years and each year thereafter.


LEAVE(S)


Vacation

Employees will accrue the equivalent of fifteen (15) vacation days (based on an eight-hour day) annually


Sick

Employees shall accrue the equivalent of twenty (20) sick days (based on an eight-hour day) annually


Discretionary

All employees with five (5) to fifteen (15) years of continuous service shall be granted forty (40) discretionary hours off per year.
All employees with fifteen (15) or more years of continuous service shall be granted fifty-six (56) discretionary hours off per year.


Funeral

In the event of the death of a spouse, child, mother, father, brother, sister, of the employee or the employee’s spouse the employee may request up to five (5) days of time off with pay.


Education Incentive Pay

*After Academy graduation, police officers will receive education incentive pay (EIP) for fifteen (15) or more hours of college credit*
