The City of Lilburn is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Park/Event Attendant. This position has a dual role and is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of city parks and supporting the successful execution of city events. The Park/Event Assistant performs park maintenance duties under the supervision of the Park Manager and carries out event-related tasks under the complete direction of the Community Engagement and Events Liaison.
Work is performed under a dual-supervision structure:
- For Park Maintenance: The employee reports directly to and receives all work assignments, scheduling, and direction from the Park Manager.
- For Events: The employee reports directly to and receives all work assignments, scheduling, and direction from the Community Engagement and Events Liaison for all tasks related to city events, co-sponsored events, and facility rentals.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties of the position of Park/Event Attendant includes, but not limited to:
Park Maintenance Duties (Under the supervision of the Park Manager):
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of park areas, including pavilions, playgrounds, and trails.
- Monitor public compliance with all park rules and ordinances.
- Clean and restock restrooms.
- Remove trash from receptacles throughout the parks.
- Perform general upkeep duties, which may include operating push mowers or other landscape equipment as assigned.
- Maintain security of all park buildings and facilities.
- Respond to public inquiries related to the park in a courteous and professional manner.
Event Support Duties (Under the direction of the Community Engagement and Events Liaison):
- Assist with any/all city events.
- Serve as the on-site point of contact during city events and private facility rentals.
- Execute the setup and breakdown of event equipment, including tables, chairs, tents, and PA systems.
- Monitor activities during events and rentals to ensure compliance with city policies.
- Assist with post-event cleanup to ensure facilities are returned to their original condition.
- Complete required paperwork and reports for rentals and events.
- Help ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all event attendees, vendors, and staff.
Qualifications
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is typically performed while standing, walking, stooping, bending, or crouching. The employee lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, and may use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed indoors and outdoors, where the employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, irritating chemicals, machinery with moving parts, and occasional inclement weather. The work may require the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Must be at least 18 years of age. • High school diploma or G.E.D. • Valid State of Georgia Driver’s License and an acceptable two-year Motor Vehicle Record. • Must be able to obtain Basic First Aid/CPR certification. • Must be able to work a variable schedule, including weekdays, weekends, nights, and holidays as required by the event and park schedule.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: • Knowledge of and skill in providing excellent customer service. • Ability to understand, speak, and write the English language. • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from multiple supervisors. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Skill in using a variety of hand tools and equipment. • Must be punctual, reliable, and able to adapt to changing priorities.
