We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity at the Liberty Community Center for a Part Time Silver Center Assistant. If you're not familiar with the Silver Center, it's a place where older (60 ) adults come each day to socialize, play games, participate in activities, special events and presentations, and share a hot, nutritious meal. As a Senior Center Assistant, you will be required to lift and carry items every day that are moderate to heavy in weight (approximately 20-25lbs). This is a fun environment and if you love helping others, planning events and serving the community, this is the role for you!

- 7:30am - 1pm

- Prepare and maintain the Senior Center in a clean and organized manner for daily programs including making coffee, setting tables and preheating ovens.
- Serve food according to regulated service standards; wash and clean food carriers, tables and kitchen; ensure proper food temperature; serve meals to program participants; order food and supplies when needed; receive and inventory food.
- Proactively engage and interact with citizens to ensure their customer experience leaves a positive impact.
- Answers phone and handles inquiries with complete knowledge of activities.
- Greets and welcomes participants.
- Assist Silver Center Coordinator in the preparation and presentation of services and activities at the Silver Center.
- Prepare various reports, memorandums, invoices and other correspondences in the absence of the Silver Center Technician.
- Assist in planning special events and supervisor volunteers.
- Perform other duties as needed to ensure quality municipal services for our citizens.
- Safe handling of food during preparation.
- Respond to requests and inquiries from customers/citizens in a professional, positive, friendly and helpful manner.
- Occasionally work independently in the absence of supervision.
- Operating and maintaining modern office equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Moderate to heavy lifting/carrying.
- Sitting, standing or walking for prolonged periods of time.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations of the Parks and Recreation Department.
Experience/Training/License/Certification
- One year of experience working with senior citizens in a work environment with references, preferred, but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid First Aid Certificate, Food Handlers Certificate, and CPR Training.
