The Parks & Recreation Department is currently accepting applications for the seasonal position of Seasonal Bitty Sports Program Staff. The Seasonal Bitty Sports Program Staff will work independently and/or co-teach the bitty sports program for children between the ages of 2.5 to 5 years old at various locations throughout the City of Liberty. - Provide assigned sport program instruction for children ages 2.5 to 5
- Work with youth while demonstrating basic techniques for a variety of sports (basketball, soccer, flag football, baseball, softball, etc.)
- Assist with program set-up and preparation
- Maintain conditions of the utilized program facility
- Ensure a safe and supervised environment at all times
- Provide on-site supervision of all participants during scheduled program sessions
- Attend to minor accidents and emergency situations as needed
- Act as a liaison between participants, parents, outside associations, and the City of Liberty
- Work various times and dates based on program needs
- Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure quality municipal services
- Basic to advanced understanding of rules and skills for multiple youth sports, including basketball, soccer, flag football, baseball, and softball
- Ability to work with young children in a positive, encouraging manner
- Strong communication skills with both children and adults
- Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods while instructing/coaching
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Basic first aid knowledge
Experience & Training
- Experience in youth programs, athletics, recreation, physical education, or coaching highly recommended
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Possession of or ability to obtain First Aid and CPR Training within three months of hire
- Possession of a valid driver’s license may be required based on assignment
