What are the responsibilities and job description for the Urban Forestry Specialist position at City of Las Vegas?
The city of Las Vegas invites applicants for Urban Forestry Specialist. Performs duties related to the production and cultivation of trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals planted on City-owned properties or grown for external customers. During peak nursery operations, the Urban Forestry Specialist assumes responsibility for nursery and greenhouse monitoring, watering, and pest management and attends to nursery and greenhouse emergencies, such as malfunctioning climate systems, irrigation systems and pest and disease outbreaks.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Experience:
One year of experience in nursery, greenhouse, forestry, or related horticultural activities performing duties related to this position OR ten (10) credit hours from a technical or college level program in nursery or greenhouse operations, horticulture, forestry, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Education:
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
License or Certificate
Possession and maintenance of an appropriate, valid driver’s license on the date of application.
Possession and maintenance of a Nevada Cooperative Extension Certified Nursery Worker certificate within one year of appointment.
