What are the responsibilities and job description for the Urban Forestry Field Supervisor position at City of Las Vegas?
The city of Las Vegas invites applicants for Urban Forestry Field Supervisor. Under direction, ensures the proper care and maintenance of City-owned trees and median landscapes. Leads and oversees the work of tree maintenance staff and contractor efforts as they relate to all aspects of tree care and landscape maintenance; trains staff on proper tree and landscape maintenance practices, procedures and equipment operation; enforces best practices as they relate to tree preservation, tree protection, landscape maintenance and public safety.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in urban forestry, arboriculture or related landscape function.
Experience with contract management and one year of lead or supervisory experience is preferred.
Education:
Equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by specialized course work or training in arboriculture, urban forestry, horticulture, or a field related to the essential functions.
License or Certificate
Possession and maintenance of an appropriate, valid driver’s license on the date of application.
Possession of a Certified Arborist certification from the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) within 6 months of the date of appointment, and maintenance thereafter.
Within 6 months of initial hire provide documentation of successful qualification in tree risk assessment (TRAQ) from the International Society of Arboriculture.
Within 15 days of initial hire, provide documentation of completion within the last five years of an OSHA-30 course in construction industry safety and health hazard recognition and prevention, developed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the U.S. Department of Labor. Completion card must be continuously maintained while employed in this classification.
Employee must attend training in work zone safety as requested by department management.
