Nature of Work
Provide a variety of general duties related to recreation programs and facilities such as monitor and oversee activities, facilities, and events, and assists participants to ensure applicable policies, procedures, rules, and safety standards are adhered to and programs are delivered in a safe and effective manner.
Environmental Factors: Work is performed indoors in various recreation facilities and outdoors with exposure to dirt, dust, pollen, odors, water, noise extremes, and all types of weather and traffic conditions. May have exposure to electrical hazards associated with equipment and working in various athletic environments.
Physical Factors: Light physical factors demands, may be required to lift and carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Requires the ability to walk, sit, or stand for long periods of time depending on assignment.
Work Situation Factors: Position involves competing demands, performing multiple tasks, working to deadlines, occasional work beyond normal business hours, and responding to customer issues. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services. Position is subject to drug testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and City of Las Cruces policies.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Participates in the set up and take down of equipment and furnishings to prepare for activities and events; explains and interprets programs, rules, and procedures to participants; demonstrates proper use of equipment to promote safety.
- Provides timely assistance in person and on the phone; disburses and communicates relevant information and program information to patrons, visitors, employees, and the public; refers inquiries to the appropriate staff to maintain expected levels of customer.
- Evaluates, assesses, and maintains equipment and facilitates in clean and safe condition in accordance with established procedures to promote safe and esthetically pleasing environments; tracks and maintains inventory of supplies and equipment to ensure availability; prepares, tracks, and maintains required records, forms, and event calendars in various mediums and formats to ensure records are current and accurate.
- Provides occasional outreach functions with schools, parents, and the public to promote program activities and coordinate usage of the facilities.
- Assists in the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of Municipal grounds, buildings, facilities, and athletic fields.
