After School Activity Leader

The City of Lansing Parks & Recreation Department is seeking motivated After School Activity Leaders to assist with the development and instruction of extra curriculum activities for youth after regular school hours, including winter and spring break sessions. These leadership-driven positions provide an excellent chance for you to ignite creative learning to children in the community between the ages of 5 and 13 years old. • Must be at least 16 years of age.
• At least one (1) year of college-level course work in Education, Human Services, or Parks and Recreation or related field preferred. 
• Previous experience communicating and interacting with youth individually and in a group setting preferred. 
• Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate their experience and competence in oral and written communication. 

• Supervise participants to ensure rules are followed and provide appropriate discipline when needed.
• Lead and instruct diverse after school activities for youth.
• Keep records, organize and prepare and maintain materials and supplies, ensuring work areas and supplies are clean and secured at the end of each shift. 
• The ability to communicate effectively with small groups, lead discussions and presentations.
