Role Description
The City of Lancaster is seeking dedicated and community-focused individuals for the role of Police Officer. As a full-time on-site role located in Lancaster, PA, Police Officers will be responsible for maintaining public safety, enforcing laws, and protecting citizens and property. Daily duties include patrolling assigned areas, responding to calls for assistance, conducting investigations, and making arrests. Officers are also expected to build strong relationships with community members and collaborate with colleagues to ensure the safety and well-being of the city’s residents.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to de-escalate situations and build trust with diverse communities
- Proficient in problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making in high-pressure situations
- Capable of performing physical activities, such as pursuing suspects and responding effectively to emergencies
- Knowledge of law enforcement procedures, criminal justice principles, and local state and federal laws
- Experience in conflict resolution, crisis intervention, and maintaining public order is highly valued
- Ability to operate and maintain law enforcement tools, equipment, and vehicles
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; additional specialized training or a degree in Criminal Justice or a related field is a plus
