Comments
- Processes payments from the public either in person or by mail for real estate and other taxes, utilities, trash and recycling, and other bills using a computerized billing collection system.
- Assures accuracy through daily reconciliation between cash and computerized transaction totals.
- Processes insufficiently funded (NSF) checks and other items returned from the banks in a manner to assure debt recovery and initiates appropriate computer entries.
- Research payment discrepancies using the City’s computerized billing system and the actual cash.
- Organizes daily cashier work by opening safe; setting up cash drawer at workstation; balancing each day’s work; preparing daily summaries, and bank deposits.
- Provides account balance and payment information in response to customer inquiries, and other analysis work as necessary.
- Performs data entry of handwritten parking violations.
- Provides back up to the Mail & Print Clerk and the Data Processing Clerk.
- Graduation from High School or completion of a GED with additional formal training/course in data processing is required.
- At least two (2) years’ experiences in the receipt and disbursement of cash or one (1) year experience operating a computerized collection system is required.
- Proven knowledge and proficiency in computer terminal entry systems is required.
- Proven proficiency in knowledge, understanding and use of the Microsoft (or similar) suite of tools (Word, and Excel, Outlook, or Lotus Notes) is required.
- Proven proficiency in performing basic math calculations including addition, subtraction, division and multiplication is required.
- Proven ability to work well under pressure and to maintain positive interactions is required.
- Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment is required.
- Proven ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English is required.
- Proven ability to work as part of a team and to collaborate successfully with others is required.
- Proven ability to adapt to new or changed situations and to show flexibility in making improvements in work processes and operations is required.
