Apply by: Continuous PAY RATE: $19.95/hr This position is directly supervised by the Fitness Coordinator and will assist in a variety of areas, including, but not limited to: Instruct aqua aerobic-based group fitness classes to community members. Educate participants on proper and safe exercise form. Enforce policies and procedures in group fitness activity areas. Execute risk management plan. Maintain group exercise and CPR certification. The City of Lakewood is currently recruiting variable employees for this position. A variable employee is an at-will employee who works in a seasonal or temporary capacity. Their work schedule is based on business need. This position would be a part-time non benefitted position. Job Requirements *Nationally recognized organization such as AEA (American Exercise Association), APAI (Aquatics Professional Association International) Supervision Received: Receives general supervision from the Fitness Coordinator. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Experience: Experience working with a wide array of populations and/or conditions. Nationally recognized Aqua Fitness Certification CPR certification Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Awareness and recognition of exercise contraindications Adherence to class format Reliable and punctual Recognition of safety concerns Working knowledge and aptitude in fitness. Possess strong customer service and interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate Ability to make sound decisions. Strong organizational skills. Ability to use a computer, knowledge of Microsoft Word and/or time entry system Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other City personnel and the general public. Experience in large group presentations highly recommended Ability to recognize deficiencies in class and make necessary modifications as needed Willingness to encourage participation in other fitness programs offered by the City of Lakewood EQUIPMENT USED Telephone Computer iPad Aqua Fitness equipment Pay Range $14.42-$57.21 Background and reference checks will be conducted for all regular and some variable/seasonal positions. Mandatory employee contribution is 11% of gross base salary; city contribution is 13% of gross base salary. Sick Leave Full-time employees earn 8 hours per month. Part-time employees earn 6 hours per month. Vacation Full-time employees with less than five years of service earn 8 hours per month. Part-time employees with less than five years of service earn 6 hours per month.
