This is a Full time, Non-Bargaining, Non-Exempt position based on a 40-hour work week with an hourly pay range of $21.95 - $30.98. This position will work at 1820 2nd Ave North Lake Worth Beach, FL 33460

JOB SUMMARY:
This is a skilled position for the operation of all types of heavy equipment used in the operation of a water distribution system. Work involves the safe and efficient operation of a diverse range of heavy equipment and vehicles. Works under the direct overseeing of a Foreman or Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Operate backhoe, grading tractor, flatbed truck, dump truck, and pick-up truck.
- Participates in duties of a Service Worker as listed below:
- Installation of Storm water piping and / or sanitary sewer as needed.
- Installs and makes structural repairs of storm water system, and sanitary sewer service lines and related equipment.
- Operates tapping equipment, power saws, trash, pumps, jackhammers, compaction equipment and various hand tools.
- Ability to compile materials from a variety of sources, to enforce regulations with code and report any illicit discharges into system.
- Completes daily time and material reports to ensure appropriate documentation of man hour and material usage.
- Utilizes tools and equipment according to proper operating and maintenance procedures for job.
- Possesses knowledge and understands how to read blueprints and plans.
- Responds to customer/citizen complaints or concerns regarding the project being worked on and takes appropriate actions to resolve complaints
- Performs daily maintenance check of fluids, lubricants, wear parts, tires, glass and on the general condition of assigned machinery and report issues immediately
- Uses various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, sloping and banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating, and stockpiling
- Performs related work as required.
- Will be required to answer forty percent of call backs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from a recognized high school or recognized equivalent certification.
- Two (2) years’ experience in the operation of heavy equipment.
- Possession of a valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of materials, methods, practices, and equipment used in the operation of water distribution.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and of safety precautions in operating equipment.
- Ability to understand oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish Land maintain effective working relations with other employees and the general public.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Physical strength and agility sufficient to do heavy lifting and carrying and to work under adverse weather conditions occasionally.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks are regularly performed outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, fumes and/or poor ventilation, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature and noise extremes, machinery and/or moving vehicles, vibrations, electric currents, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, gases or chemicals, oils and other cutting fluids, violence and/or disease, or pathogenic substances.
SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Some tasks require manual dexterity, in addition to visual and hearing acuity. Some tasks may involve identifying and distinguishing colors. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally and in writing.
All full-time employees are considered critical in response to emergency situations and may be deemed essential as needed depending on the situation.
Employees in this position will be required to complete the FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) Certification Levels 100, 200, 700 and 800 within the first six months of employment. Certain positions may be required to attain additional ICS training as needed.
