What are the responsibilities and job description for the Library Assistant II - Technical Services (Part-time) position at City of Lake Oswego?
The City of Lake Oswego Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic individual to fill a part-time position in our Technical Services division.

- Bi-lingual in Mandarin, Spanish, or Korean and English is a plus.
- Physically prepare library materials for circulation, including non-traditional “Library of Things” items.
- Inventory and procure printed matter, supplies, replacement audiovisual materials or similar items.
- Assess and repair damaged books and AV materials.
- Assess and repair Library of Things items and packaging, including replacing missing and broken parts working in collaboration with selectors.
- Process library acquisitions. Input, send, receive and check in book and AV orders through automated acquisitions system. Catalog, link, and withdraw items.
- Create, maintain and use spreadsheets or other report formats of library collection-related lists or data. Communicate well with and provide support to other library departments as necessary.
- Provide task instruction and supervision to volunteers.
Preferred candidates will possess excellent communication skills, the ability to work well independently and within a team and the ability to establish effective working relationships with associates and the general public. It’s important to have experience working with office equipment and the Microsoft Office suite. Experience working with scanning, image editing, and/or graphic design software is a plus. Strong candidates will have working knowledge of automated systems (such as Sirsi/Dynix ILS) as they apply to acquisitions and processing. Candidates will show keen attention to detail, a willingness to learn new skills, take on new projects, and work efficiently as the department evolves. Successful candidates will have library work experience, including technical services experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Non-cash compensation includes medical, dental, vision, PERS employee pick up, and VEBA contribution.
Bilingual Pay: Employees who can speak and/or write a language listed in the top five (5) most common languages spoken in the Lake Oswego School District, may be eligible for three percent (3%) bilingual pay.
