What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jailer position at City of Laguna Beach?
The City of Laguna Beach is excited to announce that we are accepting applications for the full-time position of Jailer in the Police Department.
What You'll Do
- Monitor and supervise arrestees within the jail facility while maintaining a safe, secure, and orderly environment.
- Control entry and exit to the jail, process bookings, conduct interviews, and perform inmate classification and housing assignments.
- Search arrestees and jail cells for drugs, weapons, and other contraband; inspect the facility to ensure cleanliness and compliance with Title 15 standards.
- Complete booking paperwork, maintain logs and records, prepare reports, and operate computer systems to access and update criminal justice information.
- Secure and inventory arrestee property and monies, respond to public inquiries, and enforce jail rules, departmental policies, and applicable regulations.
- Transport arrestees and assist with related departmental support functions, including traffic control, public facility lockups, and animal impounds.
- Train newly hired Jailers and provide day-to-day operational guidance to lower-level staff.
- Perform other departmental office, administrative, and support duties as assigned.

Schedule: Must be available to work a varied shift schedule, which will encompass weekdays, weekends, evenings, daytime hours, and holidays.
