What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Swim Coach position at City of Lafayette, Colorado?
Responsible for the overall supervision and planning of swim team participants. Conduct team practice sessions and meets.
Must be able to work flexible hours that include Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. and Saturday mornings. Additional hours may be assigned for organized team activities, parent meetings, private lessons or stroke clinics.
Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

- Plans, directs and supervises all practices and meets; attends meetings; works cooperatively with parent organization as a representative of the city.
- Ensures that all necessary equipment is available, setup and properly functioning.
- Coordination of coaching staff to run and assist swim team practices and meets.
- Promotes use of facilities and programs through both oral and/or written public relations efforts such as weekly news releases, flyers, etc.
- Recruits volunteer parents as needed to assist as scorekeepers, timers, etc.
- Orders all necessary supplies for successful operation of a swim team.
- Overall safety of all staff and swim team participants and parents including, but not limited to, weather conditions and proper water conditions as required by state and county health code regulations.
- Provides feedback to parents and swimmers regarding stroke development general progress; ensures safety regulations and procedures are followed.
- Performs related work as required and assigned.
KNOWLEDGE: Demonstrated working knowledge of all skills and techniques related to stroke refinement and a comprehensive knowledge of swim team organization, league rules and requirements, competition workouts.
SKILLS: Demonstrated skill in operation of the equipment necessary to perform the functions of the job.
ABILITY: To strive for excellence without winning being the priority; work tactfully with parents; motivate students in a positive way; communicate effectively with the general public and co-workers; make quick decisions when needed; follow and enforce established rules and regulations.
TRAINING: High School diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in competition swimming preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
PREFERRED: Knowledge and prior experience using RecTrac, Team Manager, and Meet Manager.
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications within two (2) weeks from date of hire.
