What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker I-II (Street) position at City of Kinston?
Performs intermediate manual and basic semiskilled work in the construction, maintenance and repair of public facilities, buildings, grounds, streets, utilities and related facilities, and related work as required. Work is performed under the immediate supervision of the assigned Crew Supervisor.

Loadsandunloadsgravel,dirt,timber,chemicals,andothermaterials,toolsandequipment. Spreads asphalt and patches holes in street surfaces, assists with concrete work.
Digstrenchesandditches,cleanscatchbasins,manholesanddrainagelines.
Assistswiththeinstallationofstormsewersanddrainagelines;assistswiththeconstructionand maintenanceof utility lines and facilities.
Performsotherstreetandutilitymaintenanceduties
Operates dump trucks, mowers, chain saws, pumps, mixers, trimmers, tractors and similar equipment.
Assists with equipment maintenance and repair. Performs related tasks as required.
## Minimum Qualifications
Some knowledge of streets drainage, buildings, grounds, utilities, landscape areas and related construction, maintenance and repair procedures; some knowledge of the safe use, operation and preventive maintenance of the equipment to which assigned; skill in the use of equipment to which assigned; ability to understand and follow specific oral instructions; ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions; ability to read and write; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
Less than high school education and minimal experience in general construction, maintenance, custodial and/or grounds-keeping work, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
Possession of a valid driver's license in the state of North Carolina. Requires possession of or the ability to obtain a Class A commercial driver's license valid in the state of North Carolina.
